At 19, BURSTWORLD witnesses reality split above his hometown for 47 seconds, revealing thousands of alternate worlds. Almost everyone forgets, but he remembers, and a black marking appears across his right arm. When his emotions spike, it opens gateways into other realities, but every gateway costs his world something: buildings vanish, relationships are forgotten, streets change, and eventually memories of him begin disappearing. Armed with a battered black sword from a dead alternate version of himself, carved with the message “Whatever happens, bring something home,” BURSTWORLD travels fractured worlds seeking medicine, technology, weapons, information, and resources to save his hometown. He becomes caught between the Fractured, people altered by other realities, and ANDS, an organization determined to destroy every unstable world. The catastrophe was not random. One version of BURSTWORLD caused it, forcing him to confront the question of whether saving his world justifies destroying thousands of equally real ones.
