On Edonia, a rugged world of black-stone mountains, mist-choked forests, ancient ruins, ancestral spirits, and ritual magic, the long-lived Edonians survive beneath the rule of the off-world Karians. The Karians, forged by Wukari’s crushing gravity, possess overwhelming strength, speed, durability, and destructive power. They extract ore, crystals, tribute, and sometimes people, answering resistance with public brutality. For generations, Edonia’s royal family enforced silence and endurance, believing defiance would destroy entire bloodlines. When a Karian collection fleet judges the tribute insufficient, the royal family is made an example before the court. Damon is beaten down and forced to watch his father die. The old policy of silence dies with him. He seeks Morrigan, one of the few who knows the forbidden rites beneath an ancient mountain temple, where an imprisoned god of endings still hungers in the dark. Damon accepts the god’s essence despite its warning: power brings an endless hunger to dominate, conquer, and destroy. He becomes a force capable of challenging the Karians, but every battle risks turning him against the people and loved ones he swore to protect.
