An original dark fantasy/action anime about a modern man who begins experiencing vivid dreams and visions of his past lives. At first, he believes they are only dreams, but he gradually realizes that his memories have survived through Spirit-trons, the fundamental particles of consciousness that persist through death and reincarnation. As more memories awaken, dormant chakra points within his body begin opening, allowing him to sense and eventually manipulate mana, an energy that exists throughout the atmosphere and across different dimensions. Humanity once possessed the natural ability to interact with mana, but something happened long ago that caused humans to become dormant and forget their true nature. Ancient civilizations that could no longer access mana naturally developed runes as an artificial technology for controlling it. Runes function like circuits: symbols and geometric patterns that attract, channel, store, transform, and release mana. Death is an ancient being who existed on this plane long before modern humanity. Death is not simply a killer or villain, but a mysterious witness and guardian of the transitions between life, death, reincarnation, and dimensions. He remembers truths about humanity that everyone else has forgotten. As the protagonist’s past-life memories return, he discovers that reincarnation can cross dimensional boundaries and that some people he encounters today are souls he knew in previous lives, friends, enemies, family, and others whose true identities remain dormant. His awakening is only the beginning. Other humans are starting to awaken as well, ancient rune technology is resurfacing, and the barriers separating dimensions are weakening. The central mystery of REBIRTH is not whether humanity once possessed these abilities. It is why humanity lost them, and who or what made humanity forget.
