Among the stars of the Orion Reach, the once-infamous warrior world Veyra was destroyed during the First Collapse and faded from every galactic record. In its place remained only drifting dust, until the Astral Wyrm appeared in golden splendor and began its work. Nearby matter folded inward at a rate beyond nature, and a planet was reborn. With a final roar and sweep of its wings, the Wyrm declared, “It has been done. Farewell.” As the newly reborn Veyra turned from blackest night toward dawn, the Veyran people awoke across scattered settlements. They gathered at the central palace seeking guidance, only to discover that no leadership remained. Revolt erupted among the strongest present. Some fled, while others fought to defend what they believed worth saving. The Veyrans battled one another for nearly thirty years, until the Dawn Reckoning. Three major civilizations now remain from the groups that eventually sought peace. The Dawnkind are fewest in number, but they forged the peace and keep apart from the others. They are exceptionally powerful in combat. The Ascendant Vanguard seeks the highest limits of Veyran potential through science, technology, and relentless training. The Wildborn cannot be steered or controlled, defiant to the end, and were the first to claim the outlands from its wildlife and rival survivors. Death and starvation became too common. The peace had to change, and it would not last forever. The Wildborn were never known for political ability, nor were they accepted by the Ascendant Vanguard’s academic circles. From among themselves, they chose a close-knit group who understood the hardships they all faced and sent them into Gideon, Veyra’s greatest city. Their legend is about to begin with a cry for help, in a world where strength and honor are valued above love and affection.
