At a family gathering, a meteor shower blankets the area and its largest fragments strike Sean, 28, his sister Lala, 32, and their cousins Andrew, 28, and Gabe, 26. After surviving and recovering, all four slowly develop superpowers over time. Their universe is the main universe, the only one holding the complete truth, and the strongest in raw power, though neighboring universes are dangerous in other ways. Their abilities have real limits, especially while they learn control. The four secretly hide their powers from their relatives, spouses, significant others, parents, and the arrogant, narcissistic Marcelo family: Auntie Arlen, Uncle Roy, and their sons Nikko, 33, TJ, 32, and JR, 28. The Marcelos have no powers at first but will gain them later. In the future, the four travel across universes and the paralleliverse, a vertical network of alternate worlds with radically different realities, including superhero and anime-like worlds.
