Vidar is an orphaned Ulfr boy, a half-human, half-wolf youth with ice-blue eyes, jet-black hair, wolf ears, and a matching tail. Alone and abandoned, he is found by Kaelyra, a cold, domineering, confident tiger-kin empress whose heart breaks open; she becomes fiercely protective and loving, adopts him, and raises him as her heir. Over the years, Vidar remains kind, humble, and caring despite his luxurious life. When an assassin targets Kaelyra, whom he calls mama, his extraordinary lightning-mage power awakens and he protects her by instinct. Years later, on Vidar’s sixteenth birthday, Kaelyra hosts a grand feast. The noble kitsune Dremar family arrives to pay respects, and their daughter Lyra becomes infatuated with Vidar as he falls for her too.
