In a world where people with extraordinary abilities are known as Metas, humanity’s former heroes have become its most hated outsiders. From the beginning, Metas were treated like slave-like super-soldiers, their abilities exploited while the title of “hero” disguised their treatment. For generations, they fought anomalies and monsters, sacrificing themselves to protect humanity. After years of battle, the Meta population has dwindled to an unknown few. Instead of honoring their sacrifices, humanity blames them for failing to protect the world and subjects them to hatred and violence. Among the survivors are Yui Hana and Violet Zero, who continue protecting their small section of the world despite being hated by those they save. But their resolve is breaking. They don’t want to be heroes—they want to be recognized as people. As humanity refuses to change and anomalies grow worse, Yui and Violet are torn between protecting innocent lives and walking away from those who reject them.
