Eleven-year-old Rose, a white girl from Florida, is arrested after prank calls trigger a SWAT manhunt for two alleged killers, endangering officers and causing one member’s fatal vehicle crash. Rose begs her parents to save her, but the charges are already set. Thirty-year-old Javon Davidson, an overweight Black man with a long beard, mini afro, and glasses, is arrested for fraud, illegal credit-card scams, and dog fighting. Under a new government punishment, serious offenders are sent to an island. Rose and Javon wake there beside each other, then discover hundreds of other offenders. Given firearms, melee weapons, a small survival kit, and a map to a nearby base, they must survive despite neither being a survivalist. Rose is not skilled with firearms, so she relies on smoke grenades and tear gas to escape danger and steal supplies from other participants. The comedy begins when Rose cries and Javon runs toward the beach screaming, “God! Why me? Take this little girl but not me!”
