In a world where unique abilities called genes define heroes and villains, Eric, Stephen, Javier, and Reggie enter a prestigious hero school as students. Stephen joins the advanced course while the others begin in the basic course. Eric can flip matter sideways or upside down and slow time in a localized area. Stephen can propel himself in any direction at high speed, turn mid-flight, and shield himself with a protective field. Javier creates molten-metal ammunition, knives, and small weapons from his right hand, with enhanced senses and physical abilities. Reggie can repel anything from himself with maximum force, though the strain depends on the object's weight. Their journey begins with school life, the wider hero world, their classmates, and five major hero high schools, leading into a tournament of ability challenges that ends in one-on-one battles between schools. Over time, the four become the Furious Four.
