The book club is a cult

Ben is a sunny, pleasant teenage boy with a deep respect for the occult. He writes a book about a deity of his own design and enters it in a contest, unaware that every reader makes the deity stronger. She sees Ben as her father, gathers followers at his school, and plans to use them to make him proud and protect him from bullies.
