APEX

A dark science-fantasy superhero saga about evolution, inherited power, humanity, religion, sacrifice, and the cost of creating something that can endlessly surpass itself. Apex, an experimental human carrying the artificial Apex Gene, becomes evolution’s first perfect avatar after the Power Event. Opposed by Bloodborne, heir to the ancient Crimson bloodline, Apex is pulled into a conflict between evolution and inheritance, institutions and faith, humanity and godlike power. Apex ultimately sacrifices himself, spreading the gene throughout humanity without making anyone his copy. Eighteen years later, APEX: LEGACY follows Apex Legacy, a new person named in his honor who appears to be ordinary before inheriting the original avatar-level evolutionary potential. Bloodborne becomes his morally complicated mentor, forcing Legacy to decide what Apex’s legacy should mean.
